The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy has this to say on the subject of A-KON.
Enjoyable Earth festival devoted to the gods of strange odors, fertility and unnatural hair coloring.
The Guide goes on to warn that A-KON is only safely attended by those species without a developed sense of smell or by those species which developed on planets with a methane-based atmosphere. A-KON is not a pleasant smelling place, except by those unusual individuals who like the smell of a Vogon's posing pouch.
And yet, despite the foul stench that blankets the downtown Dallas Sheraton upon the first weekend in June, we were there to perform REPO! And perform we did, despite the fanboy funk, to what I believe was our largest audience ever!
The fun began with an hour-long preshow as everyone got seated. There was much dancing and merriment - mostly on the part of the scantily clad female cast, though I do believe Draco was dragged up on stage at one point during "Dude Looks Like A Lady" and Jeremey, as Rotti, rocked out at one point.
We then got down to the preshows proper, with a repeat performance of the Hey Big Spender pre-show that we've done before.
We also performed a preshow originally prepared for our Monster Show. done to the tune of Rob Zombie's Living Dead Girl.
After Ben made an announcement about how the audience was not allowed to conceal themselves under blankets or dirty trenchcoats (actions, I choose and hope to believe, were due to the hotness of our cast and not preparations for the HentaiFest later that evening), we took some time out to honor Amanda.
Amanda is, far and away, our biggest fan. She has been to every single one of our shows - a feat that is made even more impressive when you consider that she lives a goodly distance away in Waco. Which, while not really far from Dallas, is still a few hours drive under good circumstances. And Texas highways being what they are, there's never good circumstances.
And yet Amanda is always there, pimping us out snapping photos. The very same photos you see in this show report, I should note. And let me say that as good as Amanda's photos usually are, I think this time she really outdid herself. Given the closeness of the stage in Movie Room 1, Amanda was able to get up-close and personal (hey, how YOU doin'?) in a way that she usually can't at the Lakewood.
As such, I can think of no better way to close this report than by showcasing some of Amanda's work from that night, particularly some of the single-shots she got of certain actors and groups.
